Now that the stockings are hung, the tree is trimmed, and all your holiday shopping is complete (ya...right) it's time to kick back and relax and what better way to do it then while hitting your local grocery store. Pick up some of your favorite munchies and don't forget to stop by the Blockbuster Express Kiosk for the hottest new releases. Have a warm and cozy evening in with a DVD rental made easy and convenient as well as affordable. We recently stopped by our local Publix and were pleased to pick up the Disney movie "UP", although we were also able to see the vast selection our kiosk offers on their website. The Blockbuster Express was extremely user friendly and within moments of placing our selection we had our movie in hand and grabbed some cookies and milk to top off our movie night just right. Returning the DVD the next day was just as easy although our store's kiosk is so popular we had to wait a few minutes for the person in front of us to finish receiving their Blockbuster DVD but at just $1 a day per rental it's no wonder why. So now it's your turn for munchies and a movie because Blockbuster Express wants you to try them out as well with a very fun (and yummy) giveaway.

Get Closer to Your Food with Viva Towels *GIVEAWAY*

12:44 AM Posted by Erin

I'm all about easy cooking and even easier clean up so it's no wonder we go through a lot of paper towels. The only brand we use is Viva Towels as they're unmatched by any other brand we've tried. Why do we like them so much you ask? Well, they're more cloth-like, softer, more durable, and extremely convenient for everything from counter scrubbing, to hand and face washing. We were thrilled to find out that Viva Towels has teamed up with Sunny Anderson, Food Network's host of Cooking for Real for the new Get Closer to Your Food promotion.

Christmas is right around the corner and Viva Towels' Fork Free Foods: Recipes and Cooking website is loaded with terrific preparation and presentation ideas provided by Sunny. Her fork-free meals look easy, delicious and fun. I plan on trying a few of her appetizer recipes myself during our upcoming holiday gathering and of course we'll use our Viva Towels for the clean up.

Try Sunny's Pommes Frites (French Fries) with Fresh Mayonnaise Recipe: (Yum!)

Ingredients:
For the Potatoes:
4 large Russet potatoes, about 2 pounds, peeled
Peanut oil, for frying
Salt

For the Mayonnaise (about 3/4 cup):
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3/4 cup corn oil
Special equipment: electric deep fryer or large heavy pot with deep-fry thermometer

Directions
Potato Preparation: Fill a large heavy pot with enough oil to reach halfway up the pot being mindful not to overfill the pot. You don't want oil to overflow from the pot when you're cooking the fries. Attach the thermometer to the side of the pan. Heat oil over medium heat until it reaches 325 degrees F.

Meanwhile, fill a large bowl with water. Square off the potatoes and cut them into sticks about 1/4-inch thick and the length of the potato. Place sticks in the water. Drain potatoes and dry well with VIVA® towels. This will prevent splattering of hot oil.

Working in batches, add a handful of potatoes to the preheated oil. Fry for 5 to 6 minutes giving the potatoes a chance to cook on the inside without developing much color on the outside. Remove to a VIVA® towel lined plate. Bring the oil back up to 325 degrees F before adding the next batch. Repeat until all batches are complete.

Let fries cool completely. Meanwhile, bring oil up to 375 degrees F. Add potatoes to oil again in batches until nicely golden, about 1 minute. Remove to a VIVA® towel lined plate and salt immediately while they're piping hot.

Mayonnaise Preparation: In a medium clean bowl, whisk together the egg yolk, mustard, lemon juice, vinegar and salt and pepper.

Slowly whisk in the oil, a little at a time at first until the mixture begins to emulsify then whisk in the rest of the oil in a steady, but slow stream. Taste and adjust acidity with more lemon juice or vinegar, if needed and season with more salt and pepper if needed. Refrigerate for up to a day.

Presentation Tip:
To serve the fries Belgian-style, twist a decorative VIVA® towel inside a small vessel to form a cone shape. Crumble up a VIVA® Choose-A-Size towel and place inside the bottom of the cone to absorb any excess oil. Fill with French fries.

Recipe courtesy of Food Network’s Sunny Anderson for VIVA® Towels.

Admiral Road *GIVEAWAY*

3:26 PM Posted by Erin

I'll be honest, Christmas doesn't really feel all that festive when you live in the "Sunshine State". Oh, what I wouldn't give for a white Christmas. So while I'm feeling envious that most of the rest of the country has pulled out their winter coats and snow boots, what I'm really jealous of is that my daughter can't wear the adorable and funky scarves (rtv $12) from the Aardavark Collection at Admiral Road. Perfect to keep either a boy or girl toasty, these scarves measure 6"x50" in kids sizes and 6"x60" in big kids and are machine washable. How cozy and hip would your son be in the awesome Skull and Crossbones scarf? Or maybe add it to your daughter's hot pink and black punk girl outfit for a complete look.

Admiral Road also produces completely original tees for kids. Their fun Treasure Tees (rtv $20) feature charming toys sewn into the scene behind clear plastic. I am certain my daughter would be all over the Ballerina shirt. I love that the toys come in different colors, making certain each shirt is one of a kind and they're machine washable and dryer safe which is essential for any kid. Plus they use my favorite shirts, American Apparel to print on. I've always found their shirts to be flattering, comfortable, and durable. Just be sure to order up as their sizes tend to run small.
Now that you've got your scarf and shirt, only one more thing needed to keep cozy this winter. A beautiful blanket personalized (or not) just for you. How out of this world cool would it be to snuggle up with the Spaceship blanket (rtv $79 or $69) made from 100% non-pill fleece. Perfect for watching movies or taken on the road with you this holiday season, it's 38 x 59" size makes it wonderful for babies and kiddies alike.

Admiral Road is full of great ideas to keep kids cozy and cute this winter season. Now I'll go back to dreaming of hot cocoa and snow flurries.

Kodak's Save $110 and Win *Giveaway*

11:08 PM Posted by Erin

Have you ever thought about how much money you throw away buying ink for your printer every year? Depending on your usage, it can run into the hundreds of dollars. That is insane especially when you think of how many people are tightening their belts in this tough economy. In our house, we've even taken to putting a security code on our printer so no one is tempted to use it. Isn't it strange to own a printer you don't even want to use for fear of the dent it will put in your wallet? Lucky for us, I was recently informed that Kodak has taken its low cost printing show on the road with the Save $110 Tour . Kodak has set out to notify the public they not only provide high quality printers like the affordable all-in-one ESP 3250 (RTV $129) but also supply pigment-based, lifetime lasting inks at accessible prices. With black ink costing under $10 and colored ink less than $15, you won't be afraid to use your printer anymore.

Kodak's user friendly website and handy tools will show how much ink your printer is costing you each year. If you're looking to try before you buy, December 3rd and 4th brings the Save $110 Tour to three Best Buy Stores in the Lake Charles, LA area. Kodak welcomes you to visit their fully equipped van and test-drive the latest All-in-One inkjet printers, learn more about inkjet printing and tips on how to save on printing and ink replacement costs.

No matter what your printing requirements are, Kodak has a printer to suit your needs. If the tour is not in your area, use their online tool to identify the right one for you. Take advantage of additional savings with the limited time offer at Best Buy to save $50 when you purchase a bundle package of any Kodak All-In-One printer and Kodak camera, digital frame, or pocket video camera. Or trade in your old printer for recycling and receive $50 towards your new Kodak printer. Don't worry. Once you see your beautiful prints and even better savings, you won't mind saying goodbye to your old printer one bit.

Want It? Win It!
Kodak would like to put more money in your pocket, not in your printer. They are very generously giving one lucky winner a $110 Kodak Visa giftcard.

The Details: One lucky winner will receive a $110 Kodak Visa giftcard in promotion of the Save $110 Tour. The Rules: Use Kodak's Overpayment Calculator and tell me how much money you spend in a year on ink with your current printer.

Dimples & Daisies Tutus Review *GIVEAWAY*

4:29 PM Posted by Erin

Is there anything cuter than a sweet little girl in a beautiful tutu? Ever since having a daughter, I have been fully immersed in all things frilly princess and whether it's hairbows or dresses- I love dressing her up almost as much as she loves being dressed up. Unfortunately up until recently, the only tutu she's ever owned arrived on a thin elastic cord that broke within days. So when we were contacted by Stephanie, the owner of Dimples & Daisies to do a review on one of her gorgeous tutus, we were ecstatic.

Just by looking at the lovely creations at Dimples & Daisies I could tell they'd be higher quality. Not only are her tutus exquisite, but they come in endless color combinations and several different styles. Whether you're seeking a shorter, sassier tutu like the Lily Collection's Pink Lemonade or a dramatic, elegant style seen in the Caroline and Jade Collections, Dimples & Daisies has the perfect tutu for every occasion from weddings to play dates. We were given the choice of selecting from one of Dimples & Daisies ready made styles or designing an original custom designed tutu. I wanted to create our very own skirt and set about choosing the Caroline's 14" length. That was about the easiest decision I'd make since Dimples & Daisies offers 42 base colors in regular or shimmer tulle and numerous embellishments. Stephanie and I went back and forth over several emails trying to design just the right skirt. She was so helpful in suggesting colors and combinations that would work until finally we decided the shimmer tulle in aqua with rhinestones and a pretty white bow would be darling for my daughter.

Photobucket

Our stunning tutu arrived quickly after our final order and we were blown away. Featuring yards and yards of voluminous tulle the perfect shade of Cinderella Blue that will look perfect for our upcoming trip to Disney World. With rhinestones that add just the right amount of sparkle, these skirts stand out against mass produced tutus and secure attachment to a non-roll elastic waist means it will stand the test of time. My girl just loves twirling in her new tutu and we're lifelong fans of the work and time Stephanie puts into Dimples & Daisies high quality skirts. With affordable pricing beginning at $25, we can't wait to buy another skirt and will recommend her to all our girl moms.

Wow Imports Name Necklace Review *GIVEAWAY*

9:00 PM Posted by Erin

Name necklaces are not new. When I was in school in the 90's, you were "no one" unless you had one. I remember when my mom bought me mine. I was in 8th grade and I was sure I was hot stuff when I wore it. I loved that necklace. Then, nameplates fell out of favor until a few years ago when a sexy little show introduced the Carrie Necklace and we all fell in love with the style anew. Now nameplate jewelry is making a resurgence again and with the beautiful handiwork and trendsetting fonts created by Wow Imports, it's time to jump on the bandwagon.

We were recently contacted to do a review on a silver nameplate from Wow Imports, the premier online retailer of personalized sterling silver and 14k gold jewelry, including nameplate necklaces, name rings, name bracelets and name earrings. After spending much time going through all the styles and fonts- and yes, even different languages- I was a bit overwhelmed. I knew I wanted to choose a necklace for my daughter but I had a hard time selecting which font would work best. Imagine my delight to find they also offer a preview of the name of your choice in every font available so you know what yours will look like before you buy. I decided the Kylie lettering was perfect for Rachel and that was we got. Our beautiful necklace, attached with a 16" silver box chain arrived quickly from the manufacturer and we were more than pleased with the professional finishing and quite impressed with the durable thickness of our pretty new necklace. With base prices beginning under $30, fast turn around on custom orders (all orders placed by 12/6 will arrive for Christmas), free standard shipping, and an extra 5% off with the exclusive code Momcanshop5, Wow Imports has a necklace for any girl; young or not so young.

Your Baby Can Read Review *GIVEAWAY*

10:20 PM Posted by Erin

You've probably seen the informercials with small children reading like champs and thought, that can't possibly be real. I know I felt the same scepticism when I encountered the Your Baby Can Read program and wanted to know exactly how it worked. I was very happy to get the opportunity to review the Starter Set so I could see for myself.

A baby’s brain thrives on stimulation and develops at a phenomenal pace…nearly 90% during the first five years of life! The best and easiest time to learn a language is during the infant and toddler years, when the brain is creating thousands of synapses every second – allowing a child to learn both the written word and spoken word simultaneously, and with much more ease.

It's a well known fact that babies and young children's brains are like sponges. Between the age of 3 months to 5 years there is a window when they are able to learn the written word naturally and easily. This is the time Your Baby Can Read seeks to take advantage of.

Developed by Dr. Robert Titzer, Ph.D. a recognized expert, infant researcher the program's original student was his own infant daughter. Teaching her a multi sensory and interactive method allowed her the ability to identify and recognize written word. By the age of 18 months she was reading simple baby books from the library and continued to excel as a student throughout her young adult life. Experiencing first-hand the positive impact that learning to read had on his own children encouraged Dr. Titzer to create a program that could be used by other families.

The starter set we received included Parents’ Guide, Early Learning Workshop DVD, Starter DVD, the Starter Book, and Learn to Read Word Cards (with 1 wipe-clean word card, and 1 erasable non-toxic pen). Everything you need to get started.

My three year old daughter has been showing great interest in learning to read and letters lately so sitting down with her to try out this program was easy. She was thrilled with the bright pictures and large print of the wording used in the Starter Book, which include fold open pages that reveal a photo that corresponds with the written word. Identifying some of the easier words like cat and dog without much trouble occurred after just a few sessions and then we moved on to some over the harder words the next week. She also got a great kick out of the interactive, sliding word cards. The DVD took a bit more patience as it was harder to keep her interest but after a few viewings, she really got into it.

Bottom line, the program works based on your commitment. While it won't teach your child to read in the traditional sense; learning letter sounds and sounding out words, it will allow them to become familiar with recognizing words and build from there. We really like this product and continue to practice our words daily.
Buy It!
Purchase the entire set on Your Baby Can Read's website for $14.99 for the 30 day risk free trial or buy it for $199.95, available in monthly installments.
Want It? Win It!
Your Baby Can Read is generously giving one lucky winner their own Starter Set to try this program for themselves.

The Details: One lucky winner will receive the Starter Set from Your Baby Can Read. The Rules: Visit Your Baby Can Read and tell me one thing you learned from the site. Bonus Entry: Tell me the age of the child you'd like to try this program on.

The Boys Store Review *GIVEAWAY*

So many boutiques and specialty stores online cater to our daughters, but very few think of the little boys out there. If they have any selection at all it's usually an afterthought and not nearly as cute or coordinated as if it is for little girls. Don't they know that moms of boys want their sons to look as cute and stylish? Enter The Boys Store, a complete online shop for the young male crowd, No Girls Allowed! Their selection of shirts, pants, and accessories is vast and varied. From sweaters by Appaman to shirts from Wes and Willy and sleepwear too, The Boys Store has a perfect brand for every boy from newborn to juniors size 20 and at competitive prices you can afford.

We recently received the very cool O.D.C.Y button down Plaid Skater Shirt with a hip bird graphic screened on the back and anchor on the front of the chest as well as matching canvas cargo pants. Although the pants came just a bit large, they'll be perfect for growing into. My God Son just loved his new big boy outfit! His mom and I both loved how well made this outfit is and were very impressed by the selection and trendy styles The Boys Store carried. We also appreciated the customer service and fast shipping we received. At only $7 for standard shipping and free for all orders over $75, his mom vows to order from The Boys Store again-- and again!

Kookie Stationary Review *GIVEAWAY*

10:24 PM Posted by Erin

Most times, you're lucky if the recipient of your carefully selected card or thoughtfully written note actually reads it before it ends up in the trash or inside the black hole of the "junk drawer". You know it happens. You know you're guilty of doing it yourself. A great way to ensure your message gets heard is to send it on Kookie Stationary.

What exactly is Kookie Stationary anyway? It's a delicious treat, a real cookie that you can write on and ship or hand deliver to your friends and family. It's a special way of saying you care for any occasion. From Holiday to Happy Birthday, I Love You or Get Well, Kookie Stationary creates smooth, crisp iced cookies that come with a food safe pen perfect for customizing with your own special message. We received the (very) large Holloween Kookie shown above and thought the idea was so much fun. My daughter and I had a blast drawing all over it with the unscented, unflavored pen and an even better time eating it ourselves.

The Kookie was so fresh and delicious tasting we had a hard time sharing it with eachother. A plastic bag to preserve freshness and a sturdy, clear box accompany every $9.99 Kookie Stationary order which makes shipping and displaying a breeze since the back pops out to double as an easle. If your recipient is patient enough to let it sit out a few days, they have an excellent case for it. However if they're anything like me and my own Kookie monster, this terrific note will be gone and eaten in no time. Save your friends and family from having to clutter their drawers and feel the guilt of throwing away a card, send them a deliciously edible note from Kookie Stationary.

The 2010 Entertainment Book: Savings Galore

11:31 PM Posted by Erin

**CONTEST CLOSED**

You've probably seen those thick booklets chock-full-of coupons, freebies, and savings offered every year in the annual Entertainment Book. But did you realize they offer over 16k in deals, all for the bargain price of just $35 for the entire book? Are you also aware that your purchase donation goes to benefit charity? So while you support your local businesses with your purchases, you not only save big bucks, but are additionally assisting in donating millions of dollars to those in need.

We were recently sent our own copy of the 2010 Entertainment Book and were more than impressed with the variety of well known companies, restaurants, and stores offering steep savings in the book. Last weekend we took our three year old to see a movie, and armed with our book, saved over $7 between tickets and refreshments. In an economy where every penny counts, both my husband and I were highly impressed with the ease of use and how conveniently the sections and subjects were broken down in this well organized volume. We've actually begun keeping our Entertainment Book in the car so we'll never be caught paying full price as long as there's a discount available. Do your best to find a local school, church, or other program offering the Entertainment Book or buy online with free shipping on their website. From food to services, activities to entertainment--Either way, you cannot afford to not own this book!
