You've probably seen the informercials with small children reading like champs and thought, that can't possibly be real. I know I felt the same scepticism when I encountered the Your Baby Can Read program and wanted to know exactly how it worked. I was very happy to get the opportunity to review the Starter Set so I could see for myself.
A baby’s brain thrives on stimulation and develops at a phenomenal pace…nearly 90% during the first five years of life! The best and easiest time to learn a language is during the infant and toddler years, when the brain is creating thousands of synapses every second – allowing a child to learn both the written word and spoken word simultaneously, and with much more ease.
It's a well known fact that babies and young children's brains are like sponges. Between the age of 3 months to 5 years there is a window when they are able to learn the written word naturally and easily. This is the time Your Baby Can Read seeks to take advantage of.
Developed by Dr. Robert Titzer, Ph.D. a recognized expert, infant researcher the program's original student was his own infant daughter. Teaching her a multi sensory and interactive method allowed her the ability to identify and recognize written word. By the age of 18 months she was reading simple baby books from the library and continued to excel as a student throughout her young adult life. Experiencing first-hand the positive impact that learning to read had on his own children encouraged Dr. Titzer to create a program that could be used by other families.
The starter set we received included Parents’ Guide, Early Learning Workshop DVD, Starter DVD, the Starter Book, and Learn to Read Word Cards (with 1 wipe-clean word card, and 1 erasable non-toxic pen). Everything you need to get started.
My three year old daughter has been showing great interest in learning to read and letters lately so sitting down with her to try out this program was easy. She was thrilled with the bright pictures and large print of the wording used in the Starter Book, which include fold open pages that reveal a photo that corresponds with the written word. Identifying some of the easier words like cat and dog without much trouble occurred after just a few sessions and then we moved on to some over the harder words the next week. She also got a great kick out of the interactive, sliding word cards. The DVD took a bit more patience as it was harder to keep her interest but after a few viewings, she really got into it.
Bottom line, the program works based on your commitment. While it won't teach your child to read in the traditional sense; learning letter sounds and sounding out words, it will allow them to become familiar with recognizing words and build from there. We really like this product and continue to practice our words daily.

If there is one thing a girl who loves to dance, loves to be photographed, and loves to be a princess needs, it's a beautiful, over-the-top, gorgeous pettiskirt. To me, there is just nothing more special than a little lady in a magical outfit and a well made pettiskirt is just perfect for dress up and photographing. Full of fluff, soft chiffon, and delicate layers the Tres Couture MamaPettiskirt is just beauty personified.
I can't even tell you how excited my daughter and I were to receive this gorgeous skirt recently. She tried it on immediately and began to twirl around in circles and boy does this petti move. It twists and twirls magnificently and my daughter literally cried when she had to take it off. You can see by my pictures how beautiful, full, and luxury Tres Couture Mama's pettiskirts are. Need I say more?
